In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, here is a quote from a powerful sermon that he preached on loving our enemies. You can read his sermon here: Loving Your Enemies. The biblical text for his sermon is this passage from the Gospel of Matthew:

Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.

Matthew 5:43-45

I believe that it is the Love made known in Jesus that saved our world, and the love that we show to those around us that will continue to save our civilization. May we do this faithfully, to the glory of God.
