A nonet poem offers a form that is both wonderfully simply and endlessly creative. Nine lines, with the first line having nine syllables, and each line having one fewer, until the last line with its one syllable. This nonet is inspired the gospel reading I preached on today, Matthew 25:14-30. Here it is again, in case the picture is difficult to read:
Life’s Most Worthy Goal
Life’s most worthy goal, to hear these words:
“Well done, good and faithful servant,
Sharing what you were given,
Loving the least of these;
Enter now into
the eternal
Joy of my
Divine
Love.”
